Pour Score
Terms of Service
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Pour Score is a latte art coaching application operated by Marlon Kazim May, trading as Pour Score ("we", "us", "our"), a sole trader based in the United Kingdom.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Pour Score app, including all features, content, and services available through it. By creating an account or using Pour Score, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Please read these Terms alongside our Privacy Policy at pourscoreapp.com/privacy, which explains how we handle your personal data.
2. Eligibility
Pour Score is for people aged 18 and over. You must be at least 18 years old to use it. We ask you to confirm this when you sign up, and by creating an account you confirm that you meet this requirement.
If you tell us you are under 18, we will not create your account, or we will delete it straight away if it was created through Apple or Google sign-in. If we find out that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it and delete its data. To tell us about an account you believe belongs to someone under 18, see Section 11.
You must provide accurate information when creating your account. You may not create an account on behalf of someone else.
3. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. Do not share your password with anyone.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. If you believe your account has been accessed without your authorisation, contact us immediately at support@pourscoreapp.com.
You may only hold one Pour Score account. Creating multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions or otherwise manipulate the platform is prohibited and may result in all accounts being permanently suspended.
4. Subscriptions, trials and payments
Free access
Pour Score offers limited free access as described on the app's subscription screen. Free access may be modified or withdrawn at any time with reasonable notice.
Free trial
We may offer a free trial period before your subscription begins. At the end of the trial, your subscription will automatically renew at the applicable rate unless you cancel before the trial ends. The trial duration and conditions are displayed at sign-up.
Subscriptions
Subscriptions are offered on a monthly or annual basis. Prices are displayed within the app before purchase and are charged in the currency of your App Store or Google Play region.
On iPhone, payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. On Android, payments are processed by Google through Google Play. We do not handle your payment card details. By subscribing, you also agree to the payment terms of the store you buy from.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless cancelled. You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep access until then.
Restore purchases
If you have previously purchased a subscription and need to restore it on a new device, use the Restore Purchases option on the subscription screen.
Refunds
Refund requests are handled by the store you paid through, not by us. For App Store purchases, visit reportaproblem.apple.com. For Google Play purchases, use Google Play's refund process (support.google.com/googleplay). We do not issue refunds directly. This does not limit any remedy that consumer law gives you.
Price changes
We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days' notice via email or in-app notification. Price changes will take effect at your next renewal date.
5. Acceptable use
Pour Score is a community for people who want to learn, practise, and share latte art. You agree to use the app in a way that is consistent with this purpose.
You may not:
Post content that is not your own pour photography. Every post to the community feed must be a photograph you took of latte art you made. Do not post photographs taken by others, generated by AI, or unrelated to latte art.
Post content that includes other people's faces without their explicit consent. Pour photographs should show the drink, not people.
Harass, abuse, threaten, or intimidate other users. This includes via comments or any other feature of Pour Score.
Use ratings to manipulate or harm other users, once ratings are switched on. Rating-bombing a specific user, coordinating negative ratings with others, or using ratings for any purpose other than honest feedback on the pour is prohibited.
Create fake accounts or impersonate others. Do not misrepresent who you are or claim to be another person, whether a public figure or a Pour Score user.
Scrape, copy, or commercially exploit Pour Score's content or systems. This includes the curriculum, animations, notation system, AI scoring system, and any other proprietary content.
Attempt to reverse-engineer, bypass, or interfere with the platform's systems. This includes the tier progression system, feed algorithm, and AI scoring.
Use Pour Score for commercial solicitation without authorisation. Do not use the community feed to advertise products or services outside the platform's authorised channels.
Post content that is illegal, obscene, defamatory, or harmful. This includes but is not limited to content that infringes copyright, promotes violence or hate, or violates any applicable law.
We reserve the right to remove content, suspend, or permanently ban accounts that violate these rules, without notice in cases of serious breach.
6. User-generated content
Your ownership
You retain full ownership and copyright in the pour photographs and other content you post to Pour Score. We do not claim ownership of your content.
Licence you grant us
By posting content to Pour Score, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, reproduce, and distribute that content within the Pour Score app and in promotional materials related to the app (for example, showcasing the community in marketing). This licence continues for as long as the content remains on the platform and terminates when you delete the content or your account.
This licence does not permit us to sell your content to third parties or use it for purposes unrelated to operating and promoting Pour Score.
AI training
We will not use your pour photographs to train AI models without your separate, explicit consent. Photographs transmitted to OpenAI for AI analysis are processed by OpenAI under their API terms, which state that API inputs are not used to train their models.
We do not keep copies of your photographs as reference examples for checking our scoring. If we ever add a scoring library of that kind, we will use your photographs for it only if you opt in separately, you will be able to withdraw at any time, and it will not be AI model training.
Copyright complaints
If you believe content on Pour Score copies your work without permission, email support@pourscoreapp.com with:
- your name and contact details
- the work you say has been copied (a link or description)
- where the content appears on Pour Score (the poster's username, and a screenshot or description of the post)
- a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised by you, your agent or the law
- a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you own the work or are authorised to act for the owner
- your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is enough)
When we receive a complete notice, we will remove or disable access to the content promptly and tell the person who posted it. If they believe it was removed by mistake, they can reply to support@pourscoreapp.com explaining why, and we may restore it if the complainant does not take further action.
Repeat infringers
If we remove content from the same account more than once because of valid copyright complaints, we may suspend or permanently close that account. Accounts that repeatedly post other people's work are closed.
Content you are responsible for
You are solely responsible for the content you post. We are not responsible for content posted by other users. If you see content that violates these Terms, report it (Section 11).
7. AI scoring
Pour Score uses AI to look at the photograph of a pour and give you a score and a coaching note. Please understand the following.
Scores are coaching feedback, not an assessment. A score reflects what the AI sees in your photograph. It is there to guide your practice. It does not certify or formally assess your skills as a barista.
Your permission first. The first time you ask for a score, we ask for your permission to send the photograph to OpenAI to be analysed (see our Privacy Policy). If you say no, your pour is still logged, without a score.
Allowance. Free accounts get 2 AI scores a month. Standard accounts have no monthly limit, but there is a limit on how many scores you can ask for in a day (currently 20) to stop misuse. Your month starts and ends at your own midnight. If a score fails because of a fault on our side or OpenAI's, it does not count against your allowance. Deleting a pour does not give a score back. The same photograph cannot be scored twice.
Tiers. Moving up a tier after Beginner depends on passing scored pours: two passes, on two different days, within 60 days. We set the pass mark and may change it as we learn.
Scores can vary. Light, angle and image quality change a score. Photographing your pours the same way each time gives more consistent results. A score can be wrong.
No appeal for an individual score. We do not review or change individual scores by hand. If you think the scoring is wrong, tell us at support@pourscoreapp.com. That feedback helps us improve it.
8. Intellectual property
Our content
© 2026 Pour Score. All rights reserved. This includes all content and features of the app.
The Pour Score name, logo, brand identity, pattern illustrations and other artwork, curriculum content, pour notation system, guided pour animations, pattern methodology, app design, user interface, and all other original content and features created by us are our intellectual property protected by copyright and, where registered, trademark law.
You may not reproduce, modify, distribute, or commercially exploit any of our content without our prior written permission.
Third-party content
The Pour Score app uses open-source software and fonts (Archivo and IBM Plex Mono, both under SIL Open Font Licence) and equipment brand data sourced from publicly available databases. We respect the intellectual property rights of third parties and expect our users to do the same.
If you believe any content on Pour Score infringes your intellectual property rights, contact us at support@pourscoreapp.com with full details of the alleged infringement.
9. Community ratings and Pour Score leaderboard
Community ratings and the Pour Score club participation tracker are not switched on in this version of Pour Score. This section applies only from the day we switch each one on, and we will tell you before we do. When they are on, they are features of the platform designed to provide peer feedback and encourage regular practice, and you understand that:
- Community ratings are submitted by other users and reflect their subjective views
- The Pour Score club tracker measures participation (number of pours posted) not quality
- Neither feature constitutes any form of official certification or professional endorsement
- We reserve the right to remove ratings that appear to have been submitted in bad faith or in violation of these Terms
10. Clubs
Clubs are not switched on in this version of Pour Score. This section applies only from the day we switch them on, and we will tell you before we do. When they are on, clubs are user-created communities within Pour Score. By joining a club, you consent to sharing your club-directed pours with the members of that club.
Club owners are responsible for the conduct of their clubs. We reserve the right to remove clubs that facilitate breaches of these Terms.
11. Keeping Pour Score safe: reporting, moderation and complaints
Pour Score lets people share pours and comments with each other. This section explains how we protect you from illegal and harmful content, how to report it, what we do next, and how to appeal or complain. It is how we meet our duties under the UK Online Safety Act 2023.
What is not allowed
Content that is illegal in the UK is not allowed anywhere on Pour Score. That includes threats, harassment and stalking, hate, fraud and scams, intimate images shared without consent, terrorist content and child sexual abuse material. Content that breaks Section 5 is not allowed either, even when it is legal.
How we protect you
- Pour Score is for people aged 18 and over (Section 2).
- Your pours stay private unless you choose to post them.
- Every community post and comment has a Report option.
- You can block any user from their profile. You will no longer see their posts or comments, and they will no longer see your posts or be able to comment on them.
- You can delete your own posts and comments at any time.
- When you post a comment, an automatic word check looks for abusive or explicit words from a list we keep. A comment that contains one is not posted, and you are told why. The check does not read photos, and it does not remove anything already posted. If we add other automated checks, we will update these Terms first.
- If a report says a post or comment may involve child sexual abuse or exploitation, it is hidden from everyone except the person who posted it as soon as the report is made, before anyone has reviewed it. Apart from this and the word check above, we do not use automated tools to scan, detect or remove content.
How to report
- In the app: tap Report on the post or comment and choose a reason.
- By email: write to support@pourscoreapp.com with the username and a screenshot, link or description. You do not need a Pour Score account to report by email.
- An account you believe belongs to someone under 18: email us with the username.
What happens next
We aim to review every report within 48 hours. If the content is illegal or breaks these Terms, we remove it or restrict who can see it and, depending on how serious it is, we may warn, suspend or close the account. Where the law requires it, or someone may be at risk, we report it to the police or the relevant authority. If you reported by email, we tell you what we decided.
If we act on your content or account
We will tell you what we removed or restricted and why, unless the law stops us or telling you would put someone at risk. If you think we got it wrong, email support@pourscoreapp.com within 28 days with "Appeal" in the subject line and anything you want us to consider. We will confirm we have received your appeal within 2 working days. We look at the decision again and tell you the outcome and the reason within 30 days. If we got it wrong, we restore your content or account.
Complaints about how we keep Pour Score safe
If you are unhappy with how we handled a report or an appeal, or with anything else about how we meet our online safety duties, email support@pourscoreapp.com with "Safety complaint" in the subject line. We reply within 14 days and tell you what we will do. You can also tell Ofcom, the UK's online safety regulator, at ofcom.org.uk. Ofcom does not resolve individual complaints, but it uses them to decide where to act. If you are in Australia, you can also contact the eSafety Commissioner at esafety.gov.au. If you are in New Zealand, you can also contact Netsafe at netsafe.org.nz.
Who is responsible
Marlon Kazim May is responsible for online safety at Pour Score, including reviewing reports, appeals and complaints.
We are not liable for content posted by other users before we have had a reasonable opportunity to review and remove it.
12. Termination
By you
You may stop using Pour Score and delete your account at any time using the Delete Account option in your profile settings. Deleting your account terminates these Terms, subject to provisions that survive termination (Sections 6, 8, 13, 14, and 15).
By us
We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we decide to discontinue the service. We will give you reasonable notice where possible, except in cases of serious breach where immediate action is necessary. You can appeal a suspension or closure (Section 11).
If your account is terminated for breach of these Terms, you are not entitled to a refund of any subscription fees.
If we discontinue the service entirely, we will give you at least 30 days' notice and provide a pro-rata refund of any prepaid subscription fees.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
We provide Pour Score on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of security vulnerabilities.
We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Pour Score, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, or reputational damage.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of Pour Score will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
14. Disclaimer
We are not a professional barista training organisation. The coaching content, guided pour sessions, AI scoring, and curriculum in Pour Score are designed to support informal learning and skill development for home baristas. They do not constitute professional training, certification, or accreditation.
Community members who provide feedback or coaching through the platform do so as fellow enthusiasts, not as professionals engaged by Pour Score.
15. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you have a complaint or dispute, please contact us first at support@pourscoreapp.com. We will aim to resolve your complaint within 14 days. Complaints about content, moderation or online safety follow Section 11.
If we cannot resolve the dispute, you may refer it to a relevant consumer dispute resolution body or pursue your legal rights in the courts of England and Wales. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law.
If you are a consumer in Australia, our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the service put right if it fails to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure. If you are a consumer in New Zealand, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986 give you rights that cannot be excluded. Wherever you live, Sections 4, 12, 13 and 14 and the choice of English law in this section apply only so far as the law of your country allows, and nothing in these Terms removes or limits a right that your consumer law says cannot be excluded. If you are in Australia or New Zealand, you may bring a claim in the courts of your country where your consumer law gives you that right.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via push notification or in-app notice at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
Continued use of Pour Score after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not accept the changes, you may close your account before they take effect.
17. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
18. Coach marketplace — future terms (not yet active)
The following provisions are included for transparency and will become active when the coach marketplace feature is launched. They do not apply to V1 of Pour Score.
Coach eligibility
To offer coaching sessions through Pour Score, you must hold a confirmed tier of Confident or above as assessed by the Pour Score AI system. Your tier must be current and not in a "calibrating" or "rusty" state at the time of each session.
Coach and student relationship
Coaches who offer sessions through Pour Score are independent individuals, not employees or agents of Pour Score. Pour Score is a platform intermediary. We are not a party to the coaching agreement between coach and student, and we are not responsible for the content or quality of coaching sessions.
Session fees and platform cut
Session fees are set by the coach within the pricing ceilings determined by their tier. Pour Score deducts a platform fee from each completed session. The applicable fee percentage is displayed to coaches in the coach dashboard and may vary based on session volume (sliding scale). The current fee schedule will be published before the marketplace launches.
Session payments are held in escrow and released to the coach after the session is confirmed complete.
Bundles
Coaches may offer bundle packages (multiple sessions at a discount). The full bundle price is paid upfront by the student and held in escrow. Payment is released to the coach per completed session. If a coach fails to deliver a session in a bundle, the student is entitled to a refund of the undelivered session portion.
Refunds for coaching sessions
Students may request a refund within 24 hours of a scheduled session if the coach did not attend or the session did not take place as agreed. After 24 hours, no refund is available for completed sessions. Refund requests are reviewed by Pour Score and our decision is final.
Coach removal
We reserve the right to remove a coach from the marketplace for repeated low ratings, non-attendance, misrepresentation of skills, or any breach of these Terms. Removal does not entitle the coach to compensation.
Promotion features
Coaches who pay a promotion fee may have their posts elevated in the community feed with a "Sponsored" label. Promoted content must comply with all content rules in Section 5. Promotion fees are non-refundable once the promotion period has begun.
